Our guide -  Meister Eckhart, medieval friar and one of Christianity’s greatest literary and spiritual voices. The freshness of his imagery and the universality of his teaching have attracted spiritual seekers, Christian and non-Christian alike, across the centuries. The evening offers the chance to probe the depths of the Meister’s wisdom, drawing on poetic rendering of his teaching as voiced by Mark Burrows. No prior knowledge of Eckhart required.

“We are all meant to be mothers of God...for God is always needing to be born.” Meister Eckhart

Mark Burrows is a poet and scholar of medieval theology.

A long time resident of New England, he currently serves as professor of religion and literature at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences, Bochum (Germany).

A compelling speaker, he has written widely in exploring theology and the poetic, including Meister Eckhart’s Book of the Heart: Meditations for the Restless Soul (2017)
